Our RPL Kits are designed to guide assessors and candidates through the process.
Our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) model
Our kits are based on an RPL model that is guided and supported, and which relies on the candidate’s ability to demonstrate their competence by answering questions from an assessor, providing referees and, where applicable, assessing their practical skills in the workplace.
Unlike other RPL models, written evidence is used to back up and support RPL assessment, rather than being based entirely on it. The RPL process will include several ‘competency conversations’ and practical tasks where applicable, which provides the candidate with the opportunity to explain and demonstrate their level of skills and knowledge.
Each kit contains:
- An RPL Assessor Record: This document guides assessors through the process of making a decision about RPL for each unit. It includes detailed instructions and procedures. Each unit includes evidence-gathering tasks to ensure the candidate is able to provide the right types of evidence to support their claim for RPL.
- The RPL Self-assessment: This document is used by the candidate to determine their suitability for RPL for each unit in the qualification.
- The RPL Evidence Tool: Once the candidate has been deemed suitable to proceed with the RPL process, they are provided with this document. It includes the evidence-gathering tasks for each unit in the qualification
- The RPL Third Party Report: This document is used by workplace supervisors or other third parties familiar with the candidate’s knowledge and work experience. This document includes a set of questions and is an opportunity for the third party person to provide feedback and confirmation on the candidate’s workplace performance.
Documents are provided in Microsoft Word format and purchasers are permitted to brand, customise and adapt to suit the needs of their target group. This is a one-off license fee and there are no limits on the amount of times you can use this kit within your RTO, no annual or ongoing fees, and no limit on student numbers.
RTOs purchase a license for their RTO only and are not permitted to share the documents with any other entity. Purchasers are asked to agree to a license agreement to this effect prior to purchase.
